Derelict Bell Pulls

As expected, today was a busy day in Edinburgh: the sale of our son's flat goes through on Tuesday so we helped with some jobs - replacing a defunct light fitting, delivering a sofa bed to a lady who bought it via Gumtree (it only just fitted in the car!) and (this evening) bringing some items to Newcastle for sorting/onward transmission etc.

Therefore I didn't have much time for a blip, but as we walked to a cafe for lunch we passed this interesting door. We assume that the rather derelict knobs each side of the door are actually old mechanical bell pulls for the different flats in the building, which have clearly been replaced at some later date with a (slightly!) more modern electric bell push system with intercom (on the left by the keyhole).

If you look large you'll see that each individual plate is inscribed with the name of the relevant occupant - or at least whoever lived there at some time in the past!

I will (of course!) be tagging this for Marlieske's DS challenge this week.
