Ig Nobel Introduction (back blip)

This was the slide displayed at the start of the presentation on the Ig Nobel awards at Imperial College that Sharon and I attended thanks to my ex-boss Sonia (not the awards ceremony itself, which happens in Harvard in the Autumn, but a set of presentations by some of the winners).

The Ig Nobel awards celebrate 'improbable science': research that first makes you laugh and then makes you think. Among the presentations were a zoologist who'd eaten batches of 100 ants to study the diet of chimpanzees and a team who'd measured the motion of hair tied in a ponytail.
