Corncockles in the rain

Agrostemma githago

This morning was pretty wet, if not quite as bad as I feared, so I walked down to where a bank of corncockles are flowering outside ChalkPitt Farm Cottage.  I thought they would be cheerful, even if rather soggy, though what I hadn't realised was that they're shy of opening fully in the rain.  Still, here is one almost behaving itself - they are such lovely wildflowers, aren't they..

Talking of which, don't forget the wildflower challenge will roll over to WFW22_10 at midnight tonight.

Later I went into town to pick up prescriptions.  The streets were wet and empty.  The Jubilee seems to have passed us by..

Partying or not, have a good evening  xx
