What's gone wrong with the Press?

People no longer believe us so what has brought this about?
 
These two key figures  from the world of the media agree the fault lies with  the growth of fake news, the Murdoch empire, Fox News and social media all contributing to create a febrile atmosphere where governments, both local and national, are no longer taken to account and corruption is left unchallenged.
And mainstream media is lumped in with them.
 
Unfortunately they offered little in the way of solutions. 
 
I regret not being at Hay Festival this year but the online version offers a valuable if truncated substitution.
