From St Pancras to …

.. Brussels via Eurostar.

What more Belgian then beer and frites? Well moules of course, which Chris I’m sure will have another time with frites, and Tin Tin who we saw in Brussels Midi station when we arrived at lunch time.
So sitting in the Grand Place/Grotte Markt this afternoon beer and frites was a must and we were right next to the Belgian Beer Museum!

I’m not a great beer drinker but this is Brugs Blanche, a weis beer which I really like ( it has a bit of a detrimental effect in me but never mind) and the frites were just right to fill that afternoon gap.

As you can see from the clock at St Pancras we were up and out early after a quick breakfast at 6.30 am. Check in for the Eurostar started at 7.30 am but we needed to be there a bit earlier to meet out guide.

We’d upgraded on the train so we got a second breakfast as Eurostar headed beneath the the waves of the channel,
It was lovey to come up and see French countryside for the first time for what seems like many years.

Having a little rest now before we return to the ‘Grand Place’ this evening for a group dinner in one of the lovely gilded buildings you can see in the extra.

When we arrived at the city centre we could hear a mighty hullabaloo. It was a large number of young men dressed in evening attire getting very drunk. I’ve seen something similar before but can’t remember where. I suspect it had something to do with graduation or end of term.
