MeriRand & the NW Passage

Beaver's Been Around

I would guess maybe a year and a half ago.

We walked through Allerton Park which was not the type of scenery I typically envision in rural Illinois. The former home of wealthy land barron-gone banker Samuel Allerton and then his son Robert Allerton, the land and the beautiful (yet strange) semi-Victorian gardens and statues were gifted to the University of Illinois by Robert and his adopted son John Gregg when they decided to move to the beach-front plot they purchased in Kauai'i.

But the beavers didn't leave, and though the current flooding probably has nothing to do with these remnants of the beavers' past activities, it was still really cool to see.
