Downbound Train

For the first time in over two years, we are heading down to London. We haven’t been on any train in that time so it was a bit of a surprise to find it was absolutely rammed. It seems a TPE train to Manchester Airport had been cancelled due to shortage of drivers, so they all jumped on our train as far as Preston. The seat reservation system seems to have been completely ignored, but we did find a coupe together eventually. The tube is definitely not as busy as last time we were here and there are very, very few people wearing masks. We switched to the DLR to get to our hotel but were stuck for a good 20 minutes in boiling heat at one point, due to “track issues”. I suspect that we will be checking in to the hotel and then heading straight back out for a bite to eat before the concert.
We should have seen Queen and Adam Lambert two years ago. Let’s hope the wait has been worth it. Though, from what I saw of them at the Platinum Jubilee concert, they are in fine form. Definitely looking forward to this one!
