a lifetime burning

Filling the frame

I've posted this shot of the Great White Egret (a relative of the heron), without any cropping.  Normally my attempts at photographing birds in flight requires some form of crop, given the unpredictable nature of the subject's movement and their distance from me.  But this egret flew almost straight past the hide that I was sitting in, so I got really close to it.  Too close in fact, the later shots in the sequence are too close to be of much use as they only really show the head and beak.  But this shot was absolutely in the Goldilocks zone, not too far away and not too close - if only they were all like that. :-)
