Beinn na Faoghla

Enjoyed catching up with JR & her husband last night. I tried a gin from Uist - Downpour (which seemed rather appropriate) - which I enjoyed.

The morning, we headed south after breakfast making our way through Harris to Leverburgh to get the ferry to Berneray.

The Harris scenery was spectacular - I was really taken by it.  Sadly we couldn’t stop to look at its beaches as we’d lost time leaving Stornaway and time was getting tight to make our ferry connection. As we arrived into Leverburgh it looked like we would make but we were slowed down by white van in front and as we turned into the ferry terminal we could see the ferry departing. A sign informed us the next one wasn’t for another four hours !  However we then saw the ferry reversing and returning to the terminal so we could get on. Mòran Taing CalMac !

We stopped for lunch in Loch Maddy and then made our way at a leisurely pace around North Uist (which I was also taken by) and Benbecula.

Currently listening to news report on heatwave down south and how to avoid sunstroke. This is not a problem up here - it is blowing a hoolie ! However this didn’t deter us from a bracing walk along the beach
