Sir Winston Churchill at New Romney

Called in at the RHDR station at New Romney as is customary on our cycle rides around Romney Marsh.

A shorter route than usual as we had friends with us who have not cycled for a while and we wanted them to enjoy the ride rather than feel it a chore. Even so we covered 20 miles in a circuit from West Hythe to New Romney and back.

Had a shock as the carpark at West Hythe, which used to be free now charges £8.85 for a day. From the car we cycled to Dymchurch for lunch then through St Mary’s in the Marsh to New Romney and the railway then back along the seawall towards Hythe.

That stretch is always a favourite and this evening was no exception as we trundled along the seawall in beautiful weather back to the car.

The evening was rounded off with a pie at the St Botolophs Inn.
