A walk in the … gardens

Today we went on a little tour with our Tuesday morning walking group.  We were picked up from a central point in a rather nice shuttle van and driven to Ayrlies Garden and Wetlands (https://ayrlies.co.nz/the-garden/) in Whitford.  At times it was a soggy walk, as there’s been a lot of rain over the last few days, but there was much of interest to look at and it certainly whetted our appetite to go back again in the spring.

From Ayrlies we travelled to the Howick Historical Village (https://www.historicalvillage.org.nz), where we were able to wander around poking our noses into the old houses and learning how people lived back in the 1840s.  I think life must have been rather hard.  We also had a delicious lunch at the Homestead Café.  We were home just before 4pm after a most enjoyable day out.

There are 4,024 new community cases today, and the seven-day rolling average is 4,939 compared to 5,921 last Monday. The number of people in hospital is 391, including 3 in ICU. Another 9 deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,415 and the seven-day rolling average to 13.
