Train rattling

Train rattling is apparently what it is called when a peacock displays his feathers. This chap was having a good old rattle as well as standing beak to beak with another male and making blood curdling crying noises. And all over a modest little hen who seemed uninterested in all the fuss. What a performance.

The peacocks were housed in the grounds of the Roman Camp Hotel in Callander where we had lunch with friends in The Potting Shed bistro. We spent a marvellous few hours reminiscing about our tales of derring-do when we all flew gliders. Those times are gone but the memories of wonderful flights, wonderful sights and close shaves remain.

Tomorrow we get up early and start the long trek home. It’s been a great week of exploration and with surprisingly good weather. This morning we saw our first significant rain but by this afternoon the sun was back out again (see extra). Amazing.
