Long trip home

It was a very long trip home from Doune. We started a bit later than planned, which didn't help. Then we decided to return to the Brief Encounter Cafe which turned out to be anything but a brief encounter. Our order didn't go through to the kitchen, apparently, so we waited ages for the food to arrive. Back on the motorway the traffic was quite heavy and we had a few patches where it was very slow moving. By the time we got home we were both pretty exhausted, although to be fair I had done nothing more than knit and listen to Radio 4 podcasts.

Sky was delighted to have us home, although we had to listen to a lengthy 'telling off' before she let me pick her up. After that she wouldn't leave me alone and I fell asleep with a cat on my chest.

There is much sorting, washing and other household chores to be done, let alone continue the battle with the council as we have not had our bins emptied for four weeks now. But at least we had a good break in Scotland and feel refreshed for the coming fray.
