Travelling day

We left Katherine Gorge a day early and travelled to The Hi-Way Inn at Daly Waters. These are some scenes from around the place. The other local spot to stay is the  iconic pub at Daly Waters but it is under water at the moment in the campground. This one is very muddy but drying out quickly now the sun is shining.

I will post some back blips from the days at the gorge. The campground there is beautiful but cramped. There are no staff to look after the amenities which has been a constant problem for the whole holiday. The main reason we left were the other campers, I’m not sure if we are getting very fussy or cranky in our old age but we both agreed we couldn’t stay any longer. The areas to camp were very close to each other and we had noisy neighbours. We were also near the gate for the idyllic swimming pool none seen better…but it was a short cut to the toilet block. Almost everyone who went through the gate let it slam shut which was enough to wake the dead. Slam …….slam……slam slam slam…..it was ok for 24 hours then got to me. Slam…slam

Then…..a young boy about 9 years was trying to crack his new stock whip. They sound like a gun going off. 9 year olds who have a new hobby just don’t stop. Crack, crack, slam, crack, chatter chatter. Ha ha looking back it’s funny but we thought we had seen enough and left.

Had a good trip down the highway and found this place which is rather nice despite the age and mud. The sun is shining after a cold wet week which is quite unusual up here at this time of year. Cold means below 30. As we head inland the night temps drop quickly. We are 600kilometres south of Darwin at the moment.

I’ll now post some backblips from our time at the Gorge.
