Big Log

A busy day!

We took Cameron with us to Cafe Tabou for breakfast- 930 pick up is early for a teenager at the weekend! What excuse does Ken have for being late? Italian ways ? Well he is more Italian than English I would say but his heart is in Scotland.

We set off around 1:30 for Easter Ross and drove through sun and rain. Rain and a drop in temps at Dalwhinnie as per usual. The A9 was pretty quiet and we made good time getting to our lovely B and B on the edge of Loch Achilty just after 4.

Managed to get a booking at the Deli on the Square for our tea. My meal wasn’t as huge as this whopper. I had garlicky prawns with bread and salad and pinched some chips. We had warm apple tart and ice cream between us.

Then we had a wander round Strathpeffer. It’s a pretty village wi to three huge hotels. We were curious (nosy) to see what they were like inside as they are relics from the old days of huge numbers holidaying in the highlands. First was the Ben Wyvs hotel - huge - needing a lot of work spent on it but busy with bus parties converging in it.
Then up the road we went to the Imposing Highland Hotel. It was even busier inside with four big bus loads of tourists. Mostly English voices. A guy called Ronnie was the cabaret - he was actually rather good.

We got back to the B and B and was asleep by 1030.
