Brown Hawker

I needed some picnic food for the last choir rehearsal of the year, aka "End of Season Social". Last year we had a small but welcome meet-up, the first in over a year, in someone's garden with BYO food and drink. So this year we repeated the invite and had a good turnout of choir members and partners for a good old chin-wag over food and drink, with raffle thrown in. At one point some music even wafted over the air, which on closer listening turned out to be one of the song's recorded by one of the tenors from last Saturday's concert (it didn't sound bad!).

Anyway, to satisfy my need for food, I wandered up to the local convenience store via the small nature reserve squeezed in between a gap up the middle of a golf course where a steam runs.  There are a number of small ponds though currently in this dry weather they are very low and some even drying up.  However, this clearly suited this brown hawker dragonfly who was flitting around and stopping every now and then to lay some eggs.
