Compton Verney

We decided to have a day off from house moving stress and drive out to Compton Verney.   The day was quite pleasant weather-wise and the place has a kind of tranquillity about it, especially during term time.  The place is holding two exhibitions at the moment, the first of which is the Magnum Photography display of famous artists in their studios.  Some brilliant pictures on display.  We did this then had our picnic lunch outside before seeing the second exhibition, David Batchelor: Colour is.  A modern artist, probably not to everyone's taste but some of the early works are interesting.  It was then coffee time followed by a walk around and through the lovely wildflower meadow they have at the back of the building.

I spotted this goldfinch in the meadow.  A suitable candidate for today's Wide Wednesday hosted by BobsBlips, theme Animal or Insect.  The extra is a mistle thrush I saw near the lake, I do like his expression!
