Bus Pass Walkers on water!

A very different Bus Pass Walk today - no buses involved and not much walking!  Instead we went to Snaygill Boats near Skipton and hired a boat for the day, heading up towards Gargrave. The “crew” soon got a system going - 2 going off to open bridges, another 2 jumping off and securing ropes etc.  We only had to use the barge pole once!  Morning coffee and AuntieP’s wonderful scones, then a great pie cooked by K for lunch with a lovely selection of fresh fruits for dessert.  Then coffee cake for afternoon refreshments!  The sun got quite hot in the afternoon and it was so nice to meander along the peaceful canal in lovely weather.  A fun day in great company.  Extras of narrowboats belonging to people we know, and the one we hired, plus one which has obviously been pieced together bit by bit (not the piano barge so a trend perhaps?!).  Lovely flowers at one of the mooring areas, and Blippers filming Blippers and the boat as they operated the electric bridge - you get to stop the traffic there - power!  :-)). We only saw one heron - it seemed to have its own fishing pool area.  Think my arms may ache later with pulling the ropes!
