The day started well…..

…..but hasn’t ended that way.

Up sharp to get ready to head to the airport for the first of our two flights to take us from Edinburgh to Orlando. Getting to Susan’s went smoothly and we were parked at her house and in a taxi to the airport within 10 minutes. A wee bit of a queue to drop the bags but job done and only 5 minutes to get through security.
Breakfast eaten and glass of wine drunk and it was time for boarding.

Comfy seats on the plane but we were delayed almost an hour taking off due to an issue with the loading of the bags. Tasty meals and large choice of entertainment helped pass the journey but we were concerned we’d miss our connection as we had just under 2 hours to get off the plane, go through immigration, collect our luggage and recheck it and get through security to the gate. We checked with the crew on board who assured us we’d be helped to make our connection. Sadly not the case and after spending almost an hour in the queue at immigration we realised our connecting flight had gone.

Confusing instructions meant we were not the quickest to the customer services desk and long story short we’re booked on the 8.30 down to Orlando in the morning. We were given hotel and food vouchers and the rooms are comfy. The hotel also provided toothbrushes and deodorant so that will have to do. Off to shower and get to bed as although it’s still Thursday here, my body is still on UK time and it’s almost 2.30am!

Thanks to Ingeborg for hosting AbstractThursday.
