Sumburgh Head

Today started with breakfast at the Peerie Cafe to set us up for a South Mainland Day. First stop was the beach at Maywick (first extra) where we were watched intently by a seal (second extra). Maywick is a really lovely beach which we had to ourselves till we got in the car to leave. At that point I saw two young men holding, as I thought, Flora. I really thought we'd forgotten to put her into the car but it turned out to be their dog, a Flora doppelganger called Joey.

Because we had travelled south and it didn't seem *too* windy we went right down to Sumburgh Head and saw the puffins. There looked as if there were a good few pufflings too so let's hope they've had a good year for breeding.

On the way back we stopped at Gulberwick beach for another walk and a bit of beachcombing. The wildflowers there were particularly good.

Now back at the house to think about packing and generally sorting out. Another walk before that though.
