Farm Life

It is blowing a gale today but sunny and dry.  I have only been as far as the chickens and the mail box.  I might have been too early for the rural delivery of mail and paper so I can have another walk soon.  I am roasting a chicken this evening but it came from the supermarket.  The chickens produce eight eggs a day so last night we had a six egg omelette for dinner to try and get ahead of the supply.  Tonight the neighbours are coming over for dinner and to watch the All Blacks play Ireland on T.V.  New Zealand won the first test so we shall see what happens tonight.

Nobody Here But Us Chickens                Louis Jordan

One night farmer Brown was takin' the airs
Locked up the barnyard with the greatest of care
Down in the hen house, somethin' stirred
When he shouted, "Who's there?"
This is what he heard

There ain't nobody here but us chickens
There ain't nobody here at all . . .
Tomorrow is a busy day
We got things to do, We got eggs to lay
We got ground to dig and worms to scratch . . .
