Diary of an Edinburgher

Road Trip Day Six

Stopped for a quick selfie this morning at Eilean Donan Castle, and then on down the A87 - a glorious road - then followed the A82 down Great Glen to Fort William, Ballachulish, and to my favourite place - Glencoe - an EPIC drive.

But, on a sunny weekend, the place was mobbed - it was hard to find a park, so we just stopped for a quick photo at my favourite bits. (Extras) But further on, just out of the Glen, we did find a place to park, carried the chairs on to some rocks away from the traffic, and had a picnic (I use the term ‘picnic’ loosely - we just had a cuppa and some biscuits).

No more stops, except for an excellent ice cream in St Fillans, so that we could pick up Archie at the appointed time. They had just returned from a long walk, so Archie was more interested in having a big long drink than saying hello to us. Sam enjoyed having him, and he got a good report.

Back home and straight out to the sunny back garden, for a coffee first, then a cold beer. Just watching the men’s double final - missed the women’s final, but saw a report - it looked pretty good. JR is reading up about the Arctic Convoys.

What a super holiday we’ve had! And I see that good weather is on the cards for the foreseeable…
