Orchids galore

Backblip

Yesterday morning F and I went to Oswestry Foood and Drink Festival.  We bought sausage rolls, mine was a vegan cauliflower bhaji one which was very tasty.

In the afternoon we went for a walk with the Wildlife Trust. We went to Dolgoch Quarry and Sweeny Fen which we know well but this walk had the bonus of linking footpaths that we didn't know about and included wildflower meadows owned by the walk leader so it was good to go to some different places too.

It's orchid time and we saw lots of them.  The ones in my blip are Common Spotted,Twayblade and Marsh Helleborine.  We also saw Fragrant (no smell, perhaps too hot), Pyramidal and Bee Orchids.

There were butterflies flying around but none landed, we did see a pair of burnet moths mating though.  I was pleased to see a Lesser Stag Beetle which is my extra photo.
