Pebble dashed

I wasn’t feeling too good this morning and neither was m’boy. He didn’t attack his breakfast with his usual gusto, which is normally a good indicator.

For my part, I felt like I had been on the receiving end of one of those cricket bats from last night. We rallied though with a wander into town to pick up a couple of bits and The Youngest spent some of her birthday money on a disgusting see-through stretchy worm, which has maggots and flies inside it. She took great pleasure in swinging it around as we walked back home.

From there it was a ride in the Citroen Boneshaker for all four of us as we took The Eldest back through for her final shift at the cafe. It’s the first job she’s ever really seemed to actually enjoy, so it’s a shame that the place is now closing. We just about survived the journey and I was grateful for their assistance when we all had to pedal harder to get up Lindale hill…..

With the weather being so good and the children requesting a quiet weekend, I thought I would try and combat feeling rubbish by getting the first coat on the outside wall. Painting the first coat on pebble dash is a new thing to add to the list of things which are most definitely not fun to do. It wasn’t helped by a meltdown from The Youngest, distraught at having ruined a new crafting creation, but after a stern talking to she was able to adjust her approach and ended up happy with the outcome.

We had a nice evening with the arrival of my parents who joined us for a chippy tea, sadly the evening didn’t end too well with m’boy doing some pebble dashing of his own all over his bedroom carpet….

On the plus side, I’ve learned that bicarbonate of soda is really good at getting the smell of vomit out.

Every day is a school day!
