Starling Standoff

Another very warm day which began in smashing fashion as I met with four other Hobblers to tour the Village Scarecrows, finishing with cuppas and cake at Yorkshire Treats.  When we paused to look at one scarecrow which was lace making, the householder came out and gave us a demonstration which was most enjoyable, and very difficult!  There was much catching up on the four mile route, something which is more difficult when we are hobbling!

The afternoon has passed as a mix of jobs and relaxing in the shade with my book.  Tony has been harvesting in the allotment and brought down bowls of raspberries, blackcurrants and gooseberries.  I've cleared a space in the freezer by taking out the last batch of last year's blackcurrants to turn in to coulis.  I'm guessing the small chest freezer may have to be switched on at some point, to take the excess.

As I had sat under the elder tree for a while, the starlings were emboldened to come to the feeders and, as usual, fell out in heaps!
