Gatekeeper

It's been a very hot day and we've been glad of our new shade. We also opened up the sunshade on the lower patio so now we have a choice of places to sit, depending on where there's a breeze or which way the sun's coming from.

I tracked this male Gatekeeper butterfly until he settled on a cotinus leaf. He looks as though he's admiring the colourful hotlips flowers.
