Heavy pipework

This morning I went to my watercolour group then did some shopping before going to F's.

He is altering his kitchen and dining room into one big dining kitchen.  The dividing wall was demolished on Monday so the next stage was getting a drainage pipe for the new downstairs lavatory.

As he needed 6 metres of it, it would have been too long to fit in the car so he had this idea for us to carry it between us.

We walked from his house to the industrial estate and he asked for the pipe.  The man gave him a very high price then said that as he's a regular customer they would see if they could get him a discount.  Three of them pored over the computer and brought the price down by £30, terrific service!

We set off with this 6m of polyurethane pipe, carrying it by a tied rope.  After a short way my heart started to complain and as I didn't want to undo the work of my clever surgeon, we experimented with different ways of carrying it. The best way from me was on our shoulders so that's what we did.

We carried the pipe the 3/4 of a mile to his house with frequent stops. We went though Oswestry town centre and the park to get to F's house.  Lots of people spoke to us and we caused lots of smiles and laughs from pedestrians and people in cars!

When we got to F's house we were very glad to sit down with a cup of tea!
