Kayaking at Kincaid Lake

Wednesday
Another beautiful day on the cards, so we had planned another kayak trip, this time to somewhere new. Kincaid Lake is located just about an hour south of us near Falmouth, Kentucky. I have vague memories of visiting it decades ago, when we first arrived in the States, but we’d not gone back. Overall, the park gave the impression of being rather run down, but that didn’t detract from the beauty of the paddle. It is an interesting arrangement, as one side of the lake is State Park, while the other side is privately owned - private homes with boat docks, and usually a pontoon boat moored there. It was so quiet, we just saw a couple of pontoon boats cruising slowly along, and then as we were heading back, there were another couple of kayaks going out. We went down one of the little inlets, and came across this bed of water lilies, which made a pretty picture. The only thing I found disappointing was we didn’t see much bird life. We stopped on the way back for a Graeters ice cream - this is becoming a bad habit!
