Ball Games in the Sun

It did feel strange to listen to the dire hot weather red alerts on the radio and then walk down to the centre of Edinburgh sporting goosebumps in a rather chilly breeze. However it was early and the sun was not particularly sure if was going to hang around for long.
But it did stay, getting gradually warmer during the rest of the morning and the goosebumps disappeared.

The Meadows gradually filled up during the afternoon with sunbathers, cricketers and people playing volley ball. The fun fare at the east end of the park was attracting families of small children while a band at the Pavilion Café belted out jazz to an eclectic mix of an audience.

Any heat is tempered by the persistent cooling breeze that seems to have been with us for weeks now. I’m not complaining as I sit with my book on the patio watching the world go by.
