Butterfly Life

We’ve planted a couple of nasturtiums this year, and they are interesting the white butterflies.

I noticed the little cluster of butterfly eggs earlier in the week, and took a photo. I took another this morning and enlarged it. It’s looking a bit messier - there are a couple of caterpillars. They and the eggs are minute, the whole cluster is less than a centimetre across.

I also managed a photo of an adult later on - it’s looking decidedly raggedy.

So a butterfly montage seems appropriate. The eggs are those of the large white. I’m not sure if we’re seeing small whites too. When I was young they were all cabbage whites. To gardeners, a pest. I’m being tolerant for the time being.
