Before the Harvest

It was forecast to be very warm today, so after breakfast I went for a walk from home to have a look at our nearest field of wheat.

It is looking good, and nearly ready for harvesting. The farmer will be getting a good price this year with Russian and Ukrainian wheat supplies cut off. Until the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its aftermath I suspect many of us had little idea of how dependent Europe is on both countries for essential goods. Something Putin is going to use ruthlessly.

Extra - en route a pony and trap trotted towards me at some speed. The thumbs up must mean he’s OK about being blipped.,

It is very warm today, but there is also a pleasant cooling breeze. Hotter forecast for the next two days though.

NB Definitely warmed up after I wrote the above.
