Wound up in Wexford

Boats on Lough Rea

We had a slow start.  I'd had a slightly sore left eye all day, and rather stupidly ignored it till the evening, when I eventually took out my contact lens  I think there had probably been a speck of dust under the lens all day, which has scratched my cornea.  So I slept badly because the eye was sore, and woke with a rather inflamed eye.  I fortunately brought spectacles with me, but felt tired and miserable due to the pain.  Thankfully it has gradually improved through the day, but it meant that I wasn't really up for anything energetic.

So after breakfast of poached eggs on bread (non-fuctioning toaster) and some fruit, we went into the town of Loughrea.  As noted previously, this seems like a nice, well supported town, with a good selection of shops.  And three separate car charger sites - which is pretty outstanding anywhere, and incredible in Ireland.  We sampled a coffee shop recommended by our AirBnb host.  Then we had a walk along the side of the Lough, before returning to try another of our host's recommended venues for a late lunch.

Then a trip out to one of the car chargers.  W looked up a woodland area just outside town, so we drove out there - but discovered that the car park was a good 500m from the start of the walk, with a trek in the sun and heat along a tarmac road - we just didn't fancy it.

So we set off towards our evening appointment to revisit a house we saw several days ago, but we were going to be early, so we parked up outside a cemetery (there's always an area of parking) and I actually dozed off a few times.

A satisfactory second viewing, enabling us to start to envisage how we could live in this house.  In terms of square metres of floor surface, it seems to measure up to have as much as, or even slightly more than, our current house.  But it's differently distributed.  We struggle to work out how we'll fit in our furniture.

We're still trying to arrange a couple of other viewings, but no progress will be made until Monday.  So we'll have a tourist day tomorrow.
