not very silly

I didn't really take any silly photos today. I went to Apple and I have a new iPad of the same type/age/size/specs of my old one, but hopefully this one will charge when asked and not just when it feels like it, and hopefully when I put the cable and SD card in the port it will do what it is supposed to.

I say hopefully, because I have not successfully restored the backup. In the store it was restoring, but they grew concerned at 4 pm that it would actually not be be done by store closing time of 8 pm. We unplugged. Everything done to that point was undone. I'm at home trying to install the last backup and am not confident it is working. Ugh.

Ukraine has received their first batch of M270s. HIMARS stands for high mobility rocket systems and they have been used to destroy more than 30 Russian military hubs. The M270 fires the same ammunition but can be loaded with twice as many rockets. The UK, Norway, and Germany have all promised to provide M270s.

Ukraine has been making Russia pay dearly for every inch it has gained in the east. A senior US military official told reporters that HIMARS strikes on logistics nodes are now really limited any Russian gains in the east. Striking ammunition storage sites and other logistical supplies is having a significant effect. Some data shows that Russian artillery fire in Donbas has decreased in conjunction with the HIMARS. The HIMARS is a lightweight version of the M270.

British tanks have arrived in Poland. Many countries gave military equipment to Ukraine and thus need more themselves. The British tanks in Poland are to deter Russian aggression and fill in for the hundreds of tanks Poland donated to Ukraine. The US is attempting to fast-track the sale of M1 Abrams tanks for the same reason.

Ukrainian troops are training in Germany on a new weapon that includes GPS aiming. It uses a projectile that can change course while in flight and is therefore more accurate.

The  Russians have provided some targeting help to Ukraine - a Rusian soldier filmed others loading a truck with ammunition and posted it to social media. The Ukrainian army was able to identify the location and target it. Ukraine thanked the "local collaborator."
