Afternoon tea

The focus today was on the afternoon tea we put on for family and friends to celebrate Mum’s 95th birthday tomorrow. We were able to use a room at Grace Joel - Mum’s retirement village - so we all pitched in to provide the food and one of Mum’s great granddaughters, who is only 15 years old, made the cake.  It was a very pleasant afternoon, which I think everyone enjoyed.

There are 6,223 new community cases today, and the seven-day rolling average is 9,803 compared to 9,000 last Sunday. The number of people in hospital is 733, including 16 in ICU. Today another 22 deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,827.
