Frisky Whiskey

Not much friskiness evident as far as we’re concerned, but Cork City is looking bright in its Irish colours. Another in extras.

We are staying in the swanky Imperial Hotel. At least S is making the most of the comfy bed, complimentary bathrobe etc., and we have a nice spacious room. When we arrived, the receptionist asked me for my credit card, and after emptying my bag out I found I didn’t have my wallet. For some dread moments I thought I would either have to drive back to Dunmanway on the assumption I’d left it there when checking out, or spend the afternoon cancelling all my cards. However it turned out that when I dropped S outside the hotel with the luggage before parking the car, he’d thrown my bag into the back seat and my wallet fell out onto the floor. So phew.

We checked in early, had a light lunch, and then S went to bed — surprise! — and I went for a wander round Cork. Nearly all the shops on St Patrick Street were open, so I took the opportunity to go into M&S and buy some knickers. Exciting! Somehow I also managed to buy a T-shirt and a pair of trousers on the way to the cash desk.

We’ve now had dinner in the hotel restaurant to save walking anywhere. And it’s going to be another early night!
