Keeping Hydrated!

First things first and so a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on my celebratory cornetto yesterday. It is a pleasure to be involved in an internet site where people are kind to each other and become virtual friends. Blipfoto is that rare site.

Today has been akin to being in an oven or at least being on holiday in a hot country but where life as such has ground to a halt. The UK works in temperatures between 0° and 30° and with moderate wind and rain. Anything different and we don’t seem to be able to manage - we and our infrastructure are designed for temperature climes.

The difference between yesterday and today in Edinburgh was the lack of wind: there was no air movement at all to temper the heat.

The Merry Widows were meeting at the Black Ivy this afternoon, which meant a walk for me over Bruntsfield Links with no shade. It was a relief that we all opted to sit inside the hotel where it was cool and air conditioned. A pint of mixed fruit flavoured cider slipped over very easily.

It feels very torpid and thundery now at 6pm. It will be quite dramatic if we get any thunderstorms tonight. It will certainly clear the air but they don’t seem to be forecast
