A Day In The Life

Cave Dwellers

With windows closed and curtains drawn we’ve cut ourselves off from the outside world. I miss glimpses of squirrels hopping across the grass or striped chipmunks hanging off the feeders; the mad swoop of the bluejay gang in search of peanuts or the mews of catbird. Now all I hear are the whooshing of fans as they frantically attempt to move warm air from one side of the room to the other. As the day grows longer the upstairs becomes noticeably warmer than downstairs. Even the fur-coated felines migrate “south” to sprawl full length across the tile floor in the dining room. Experience has taught them rugs, beds and laps are to be avoided. Living as cave dwellers doesn’t exactly beat this scorching summer heat, but it helps • MrsP and I shared the watering duties today to minimize time spent outside; a few more cukes and squash were picked (yay) and all of our resident critters fed and watered. That’s all we felt like doing in 91F • Our thoughts are with our Blip Friends baking in the UK • a Faffed Echinacea Flower from the Butterfly Bed for your viewing pleasure :)
