A time for everything

European starling

Saturday July 16
I spent some time late morning sitting outside watching birds on the feeders. There wasn’t the greatest variety of birds while I was out there, mainly starlings, cowbirds and blue jays. However, I did like this capture of the starling with a peanut in its beak, and the light showing up some of his lovely plumage.
In the afternoon, I was making a start on laundry and ironing for our upcoming trip back to the motherland on Tuesday.
In the evening, we went to the Bastille Day celebrations in downtown Montgomery - we are twinned with a town in France. There’s not much French about it any more, but it’s still a fun food and live music event. They have two stages, one at the south end of the street, and one at the north. We first got something to eat and drink, then watched a group called the Mistics that we had seen last year, until they went for a break, then we migrated to the other stage, and for the rest of the evening, until 11 pm, watched an Eagles tribute band from Canada, called Hotel California. They were very good!
