Life's Little Moments

Completely Perfect

There were several Eastern Tiger Swallowtails in the garden this afternoon but it was this female that caught my eye.  Like the Giant Swallowtail I posted a few days ago, this female is unusual in that she still has both "tails" and is in pristine condition.  I have loads of swamp milkweed in my garden this year and the tigers seem to love it, going back and forth between it and the phlox.

I had a totally wonderful time with my besties.  Peg and I decorated the house for the birthday celebration, deciding that we liked the sound of 40 far better than other decade ages.  So we had banners, balloons, fancy hats, napkins - all the trappings of a grand birthday party.  When the two birthday girls arrived, the fun began.  When you have friendships that span decades (we aren't saying how many) you know so much about each other and you know that you all love each other no matter what.  As I get older, I appreciate my friendships more with each passing year.

We had a leisurely breakfast (with huge thanks to Hubs who whipped up his famous blueberry walnut pancakes and extra crispy bacon, with sides of fresh fruit.  Then, because it is still scorching outside, we settled in for some serious dominoes - complete with lots of laughter and no small amount of cursing.

We parted company this afternoon already looking forward to the next time we can all gather.

And in just a few more days, Hubs and I will leave for South Carolina to visit family.

Opted for some delicious chocolate peanut butter fudge today that Ellen brought.  Yum,
