Rotting Stump

It’s beginning to look a bit like autumn in the little wood just around the corner. I ventured out without a coat…which was a mistake, as it poured down as I walked in the wood. Fortunately the tree canopy prevented most of it hitting the ground / me directly and I got just a little damp.

Despite appearances the camera was level when I took the shot! Plenty of fallen leaves about given an almost autumn feel to this, and the leaves still attached to the beech tree (top right) are yellowing. The flowers in the centre are hooliganHimalayan Balsam, which is still going strong :-(
