Weekend

The weekend starts on a Thursday this week with two public holidays in celebration of the Queen’s platinum jubilee.  For us, it started with a coffee at the new Raynes Park coffee shop, Three Apes, before heading on some rather empty trains to sit outside in the sunshine eating (or maybe drinking) a bottomless brunch back at The Cheese Bar in Camden. The breakfast burger was lovely - and it did have some cheese in it - and came with bottomless bubbles. Delicious.

Before, and after, brunch we wandered Camden looking for some jubilee branded foods to take to this afternoon’s party and for a couple union flag branded items. We both found appropriate bucket hats. It’s going to be a very sunny afternoon.

Back to Waterloo where we boarded a train to Southampton and Hedge End. We walked from Hedge End to Trevor’s house where he, and his neighbours, we’re having a street party. As they live in a small cul-de-sac that’s off the road it was less of a street party and more of a driveway party across four houses.  As always the little community was very welcoming and generous with food. Several barbecues were on the go at all times and there was an awning that covered tables of salad and nibbles. And a lot of ice to keep the drinks cold.
