Seeing Beyond Looking

My stay in the mountains: Villars

What a wonderful time we had in the mountains. There were numerous hikes. This was our first big one! A little train took us up higher and then a chair-lift higher still! I am not at all good with heights and the chair-lift was a big challenge for me (so much emptiness underneath!) We reached a point called Chamossaire at an altitude of 2112 metres. The view was fabulous.

From our highest point, we were able to admire a huge fresque of a small girl building a cairn out of books and stones. The young French artist is called Guillaume Legros, known as 'Saype' a word play on 'Say' and 'Peace'. What a talented and astonishing artist!

Our hike lasted over two hours and some parts over tree roots and very steep areas were quite a challenge!

Here is an interesting link about Saype:

and another one to see the fresque we saw above Villars:

Extras:
- the fresque
- the little train which took us down to Villars again after our hike with my son and his wife about to board.
- le lac de Chavonnes
