Home

I kept half waking all night and hearing bits of music or lyrics from Hamilton….powerful stuff!
Chatted in the garden with Mt over tea and toast in the morning before packing up again and driving to T&Kt’s to see them and chat about P and what to do next.
Bit of shopping on the way to K’s to let A get something for baby Otis then we had lunch with her and chatted about all the dramas of the last couple of weeks with the baby’s protracted and difficult arrival, J’s recent scary infection, Ef’s broken arm and P’s hospitalisation….it’s been all go! Once visiting time started I left A with Paisley at K’s and went in to see P. He wasn’t quite as animated as yesterday but seemed fine. Still talking about going home and yet I’m not sure that’s viable….will have to do some intensive research and phone calls next week once I’m home (and have some time thank goodness!). We joked that it’s as well his hearing aids aren’t in as the ward is so noisy….he had a wry smile at that!
Left him with the various things I’d taken in for him, and pleased to see he drank two glasses of the fresh chilled orange juice.
Cup of tea with K then piled back into the cram full car (extra) and set off for the long drive home, much later than we’d planned.
Straightforward trip listening to podcasts about the Webb telescope’s findings and about forensic science. Sad to see the sunset starting just after 9pm, but over the next hour it developed into a cracker (shame I missed catching the Angel of the North against the beautiful sky!) and we got home at 11.30pm. Just brought the essentials up, and found that the freezer door hadn’t been properly shut whilst we were away so we had to clear it out and try to salvage a few things before binning the rest…argh!
Couldn’t sleep for ages when I finally got to bed…often happens after a long drive. Still, it’s been a great holiday and yet it’s good to be home.
