Not As It Was

I did the summer photo-recording for the conservation group which manages Hinderclay fen today. This is the alder carr section which i've Blipped previously, in February 22, early April 21 & late April 21. No prizes for spotting the difference, but at least the foliage is still green. I had planned to include the spectacular buttressed roots of the older alders but unfortunately the undergrowth/brambles prevented me from getting a clear line of view and from walking around the edge off the path - & I didn't trust myself to cross the black mud even though it looked dry!!

East Anglia, together with parts of the south & south east, has had its driest July since records began, according to the Met Office.
