Lake time

We packed up this morning and waved farewell to the many crickets in the bathroom (they have red wings and look very cool when they fly). Then brunch and a long drive south.

The trucks here have Wacky Races style spikes on their front wheels - to what purpose is unclear. And the roads are very straight, with random speed bumps even on dual carriageways.

This afternoon we arrived in Bacalar where the main event was a boat trip on the lake. The colours are beautiful because of the lack of vegetation and the sandy bottom - exquisite shades of turquoise and blue. And with added prehistoric lifeforms (stromatolites). We went out on a sail boat, and had a couple of stops for swimming, and a fabulous platter of fruit for no obvious reason. Very friendly and knowledgeable guides.

Now we’re in another apartment, and debating tomorrow. Either all will go well and I will blip tomorrow from Belize, or our planning we be shown to be faulty and we will miss our boat or fail to have enough cash for taxes we don’t know about.
