A month late

A year and a month ago I was getting excited about the blackthorn in the hedges blossoming. Finally, a whole month later this year, it is blossoming again.

Mum came over this afternoon. I haven't seen her for ages. She's been really busy.
Instead of my latest routine of ignoring the housework and escaping to do the garden I thought I'd better clean up a bit. Then we ended up sitting outside and drinking tea and walking the dog anyway and spending no time at all indoors.
Mum's life is so much more interesting than mine and she has so many more friends than I do. She can chat for hours about what she's been doing and who has the worst bad back!

Tess got fed up of the chat not being about her and pulled up loads of grass, put it in a box, took it to the trampoline and then jumped up and down pouring grass on her head and shouting for attention.
She looked like some sort of music festival mermaid rock chick with her long, thick green hair.

It was nice to roam free up the hill from our house again when we took the dog for a walk. The cows have been taken away for a while and nature is trying to come back. Mum's been having trouble with her feet so she was hopping over old cowpats in her sandals. I have trouble remembering she's 68, sometimes. Always, actually.

Gemma was home this evening and Joel went to see Iron Man at the cinema with his friends, so we watched a film. It was a Robert Redford and Helen Mirren film called Clearance and it was pretty disappointing. It felt like they ran out of the time and energy to make it work, and so it ended pretty crapilly.
