Wattle it be?

Green and gold are the dominant colours of local landscapes this month, as wattle (acacia) flowering season peaks. This is Coastal Wattle, Acacia longifolia.

Since 1992, National Wattle Day has been celebrated across all of Australia on 1 September. Before that, the date varied between the states, to coincide with local peak flowering season. Here in the Northern Rivers of NSW, the peak is about now. By 1 September the flowers will be fading. So I'll blip this photo today, at the peak. It was taken this afternoon on our walk to the lookout.
