Happy visitors

Here are (two of) Mr hazelh's parents (of four) enjoying a drink at the Fishmarket just before a delicious dinner this evening.

We've had a great day. The entertainment began with a picnic at a table in Bristo Square, then the Best of the Fest* show in the (very hot) Spiegeltent in George Square. After this we walked down to Princes Street Gardens for an ice cream, then a second show - Boorish Trumpson** - inside a (cool) container in the middle of George Street. We had about an hour of rest at home again before heading to Newhaven for supper.

* This show comprised a selection of snippets of various acts. The compere was excellent, as were an acrobat, and the magicians. The two stand-up comedians will have a chance polish up the delivery of their material over the course of the next couple of weeks.

** This is a one-woman show about power and control, with the script often drawing directly on statements made by Johnson and Trump. The delivery was both intriguing and entertaining, couched in the terms of an orchestral rehearsal, and the acting was superb. However, the piece as a whole is somewhat intellectually challenging and - for some - may be difficult to grasp at the level intended. I thought it all rather clever, but it not the 'cup of tea' of one of our party.

Exercise today: walking (~16,000 steps).
