Set for Jon Culshaw as Les Dawson in Flying high

We had the best seats in the house for Flying high, starring Jon Culshaw as Les Dawson (and various others) this afternoon. This afforded a great opportunity to photograph the set, in two senses of the word. The show is superb, and I recommend it, even if - like me - you are too young to have been a fan of Les Dawson.

It is thanks to a member of the front office staff in charge of the queue that we were so well positioned in the auditorium. She recognised that my mother-in-law might prefer to sit, rather than stand, while waiting for admittance to the venue. She arranged for the four of us to join a select group of audience members for the equivalent of 'priority boarding'. This meant that we had the best choice of seats about 5 minutes before anyone else was let into the theatre.

This morning's entertainment was provided by Mr hazelh's third cousin Guy. My mother-in-law (who is second cousin to Guy's mother) was delighted to meet Guy 'properly' today having only ever seen him once before. Their earlier encounter was very brief at the Lorna Lloyd Diary of the war podcast series launch event in Malvern on 24th May 2022. Guy came over for coffee (and freshly baked scones, and banana bread, and biscuits) in the back garden at 10:45, and stayed for 2.5 hours of chat and laughter in the sunshine. (We did invite him to stay for lunch, but he had things to do...)

We squeezed in one more Fringe visit today. This was to an art exhibition just along the road from us. We were the only ones there at the time, so the proprietor treated us to a private tour of the gallery.

This evening we have continued to make the most of the wonderful (if rather hot) weather with a(nother) barbecue in the back garden.

Exercise today: walking (~11,000 steps).
