On Minchinhampton Common

On my way to shop in Nailsworth I stopped off near the Old Lodge hostelry on Minchinhampton Common. I parked just off the single track lane on the common itself as I usually do when hoping to watch skylarks.

As you can see the common is parched and becoming lifeless. I saw few insects, no birds other than two crows and certainly neither saw nor heard any skylarks. Disarmingly quiet.

However there were large numbers of older people wheeling the golf buggies and whacking balls around the nearby golf course. Walkers were rarer than usual too. This couple conveniently walked in to my view finder.
